About Dr Singh's BioIT Lab
Dr Harvinder Singh joined ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur as a Scientist-B in February 2026. He holds a PhD in Pharmacology from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Microbiology at MGSU, Bikaner. Prior to his current role, he served as a Research Associate at PGIMER, Chandigarh, for two years.
Dr Singh is a recipient of the prestigious Young Scientist Travel Award from DST-SERB and was honoured with two Annual Research Day Awards in 2025 for his contributions to innovation and published research. He has qualified for several prominent national fellowships, including CSIR-UGC-JRF, ICMR-JRF, GATE (Life Sciences), ICAR-NET (Microbiology), and the FSSAI-JAE (FIFA) fellowship. Currently, Dr Singh serves as the In-charge of the Microbiology Laboratory at ICMR-NIHR.
Under his leadership, the BioIT Lab was established within the Department of Microbiology. The facility specializes in microbiological testing, including Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), alongside advanced drug discovery focusing on enzyme inhibitors and ion-channel blockers. The lab’s mandate emphasizes interdisciplinary research, bridging the gap between Microbiology and Pharmacology to drive drug discovery initiatives.
Notably, this laboratory is the only facility of its kind in Western Rajasthan, significantly strengthening the research capacity of ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur, India.
